ONCE APPROPRIATE – NOW EASILY JUDGED
Working full-time while trying to keep this blog alive requires a lot of flexibility. Managing your everyday schedule is as important as finding an outfit that is just comfortable enough to run errands but also classy enough to keep the next appointment. I’ve been loving the business look since years but nowadays I feel like it is more important to look down-to-earth – depending on where you are going of course. I also feel that people are easily being judged by not being down-to-earth when wearing clothes that radiates success. Funnily and strangely enough, people like that do not only radiate success but are seen in the context of being pretentious most of the time.
I wear this sleeveless blazer/vest a lot and think that it’s just the perfect piece to upgrade your casual look when wearing a simple top or blouse. But likewise it helps to dress down dresses when looking too uptight. This year I went crazy on palazzo pants and they are my favorites to wear, not only because they are comfortable in every situation, but also because they underline this cool but still smart look. Depending on my meetings I sometimes ditch these white slip-ons and go for a more matured pair of shoes. But tell me. Has time changed? I used to dress up for business meetings and I loved doing it. Dressing up for business meetings marked special days in my life – well kind of. But out of a sudden I felt like a bimbo being overdressed in heels and a solid business outfit. I feel like people would judge me even more based on my look, for wearing an (once) appropriate outfit for a special occasion. To feel more confident and comfortable again, I found a way to balance out my outfit and changed it into a casual business look.
Running errands, meeting clients, going for a walk – all these things only require one outfit and I don’t have to rush around, trying to change outfits at home. It really saves a lot of time. And time management is one of the biggest problems I had to deal with for the past years now.
I also mentioned in one of my last posts, that I’ll be reposting more old items in different combinations on the blog now. I still remember that when I was a kid, my mom used to dress me in head-to-toe Esprit outfits a lot. These outfits were probably my most colorful outfits ever and I still have some of the items which still fit. Today I looked up some similar items so you can recreate this look if you like it.
