LONG LIVE SUMMER: KIKO 2.O SUMMER COLLECTION
Summer finally arrived in Vienna town. I couldn’t be more happy but there’s nothing more depressing than spending the summer days sitting in your office. But you do what you gotta do. On these days I like to help myself out and put summer on my still pale face. And there’s definitely one good thing about sitting in the office the whole day. You can put a full summer face on without worrying a second about a melting face. So your make-up turns out to stay all day. Since I really liked how the KIKO Spring Collection 2.0 turned out, I was more than ready for the KIKO Summer 2.0 Collection:
BRONZE UP!
Sometimes you gotta fake it. Winter is way too long. Long live summer. This baked bronzer will last a lifetime and it really feels really silky on your face once you apply it. Even if it gives you a really nice tan, it doesn’t leave any harsh lines and the color really adapts to your skin tone. You can built up your tan really good because it’s not too pigmented in comparison to what I’ve been using for the past months. I am really satisfied with my current bronzer but sometimes I really wanna go for a more natural look, where I tend to mess up as soon as I try bronzing up my face.
BLOOMING AND BLUSHING
… get ready for your summer flirt! I tried the baked blush in two different colors: Coral Bay and Red Sunset. To be honest, I still am looking for the perfect blush, because I once had the perfect color, broke it and forgot which brand it was because the label also faded from the packaging already. Ever since I’ve been mixing blushes to get the perfect shade. I would say, that after a vacay, my skin really is on the dark side so I would more go with Red Sunset – which is the darker color by the way. And maybe it’s because for a long time I felt that this peach colored blushes don’t really suit me. Lately I do have days where I think, that the peach-toned ones make me look a bit more awake.
GET THE LOOK
Get their attention. Make them look. It’s all about the eyes. My go-to-look is wingin’ my black eye-liner and put on a little mascara. If it has to be a bit more fancy, I try a light smokey eye. I always admired the girls, that would use really popping colors for their eye-makeup. It always looks so flawless, so fresh… it always looks like fun to be honest. And it looks even more fun watching the girls rock that look on YouTube. Until you try it and look like a seven-year-old that went through mom’s make-up drawer. So I’ve decided to stick to my go-to look but skip the black and go for blue. What you see here is a pearly liquid eyeshadow. Yes! Liquid Eye SHADOW. But I decided to use the blue one as an eyeliner and just use the bronze one as a base. I love how this pearly liquid leaves you with a non too glossy, but still shimmery eye-look. Still, I think it needs a bit of build-up work, if you are really going for something really strong. Working with these eye-shadows was definitely the most difficult but most fun part of trying out these products.
NOTHING NEW
… seriously. No big news that I’ve always loved lipsticks in general. And it’s also no news that I have the whole lipstick range at home already. Again. They did an amazing job on the colors, but I was surprised, that it was not the bold red that turned out to be my favourite. It was the nude one. And it even kicked MACs velvet teddy from the top of my list. Another really clever thing, is that they already shaped the lipsticks to be alienated. I’ve been doing this for years, and I know that there are a bunch of women that use their lipsticks as blush, when on the run. So yes: it’s for lips and cheeks!
WHEN THE SUNRAYS HIT YOUR FACE
then your highlighter will definitely pop. I’ve been trying a few illuminating drops now, and I am really happy that these highlighter drops from KIKO also give me a little bit of color. Most of the highlighters turn out to be too yellow or white for me. And this might sound disgusting, but as soon as you get a little hot in summer, I feel like the sweat makes your highlighter pop even more. Tell me if it’s only me.
Seriously KIKO, it’s a great collection again. And usually I look forward to not wearing any make-up during summer, but I think you just changed my mind. Here’s the look I’ve created, using these products. I didn’t go crazy but I definitely will play around with these products a little bit more. And you’ll see the results on my Instagram.
