SURROUNDED BY BEAUTIFUL STORIES
I’ve changed. I hear that a lot. And I am grateful that I did. I am grateful because it changed my mindset. I’ve always considered myself as an open-minded person but at some point I realized that I wasn’t. In fact, there were a lot of situations when people kinda scared me away because of their unusual behaviour. And that’s exactly the point. I used to associate ‘unusual’ with negativity. I’ve learned that most of the time the people with that unusual behaviour have the greatest stories to tell. That in these very words, they communicate with their stories, there’s always a life lesson that we can all learn from. So being open-minded means being surrounded by beautiful stories and beautiful little things in life.
Even if some people managed to scare me off within the past years with their uncommon personalities, I’m still able to say that I am surrounded by some healthy craziness that I can call my friends for quite a few years now. This time, two of them took me to a place full of stories: A second-hand shop. Every single piece has it’s own story which makes it even more interesting to spend the whole day strolling around and exploring every single corner. Every single piece tells a sensational little story. The best thing about it is that you can let your imagination run free. Pick a piece and be on the side of the story teller. Make up your own scenario about the old owner of your piece, visualize the wedding where someone first used the most beautiful silverware or even picture the lonely rich ass lady that looked at herself in that gigantic mirror while asking herself if she made the right decision in life. I was not planning on buying something until it happened. One of the two crazy friends I’ve been there with, found this perfect art piece of an old Vogue cover illustration imprinted on a mirror. Right now I am looking at it and see myself where I want to be. And every time I will see my reflection in that mirror it will be a daily reminder on how following my dreams can affect my actual situation.
