VALENTINES DAY: SINGLE BY CHOICE
Today will be a stressful day for most people. Why? It’s monday. Easy Peasy? Well. Not for everyone. I know that most people are already racking their brains because of their plans for Valentines Day. Some people are preparing for their big surprises, other people are overthinking about their gifts for their loved ones. Others are getting ready to propose. And then there is a bunch of singles. Either not caring about Valentines Day or being all depressed about their single life.
Yes. Tomorrow is Valentines Day. A day I usually don’t care about at all to be honest. The only thing I love is that there’s a bunch of movies to watch on TV on that day. Yes. I couldn’t care less about Valentines Day and still I am writing about it because there are actually a loooot of people being all excited about this day. I also found some time to attend the sunday mass again yesterday and was reminded what love is about. I also was reminded about the story of Valentines Day and why people do actually celebrate it. Writing this blogpost, I will definitely not tell you about the definition of love because everyone has an own definition of it. It is more a guideline for singles like me. Well, not really a guideline but just some words I really wanna share.
HERE COMES THE MOST ROMANTIC PARAGRAPH
…Or not so much. Valentines Day is the day the world celebrates love. That doesn’t necessarily mean that this day is for couples only. I know a bunch of women that easily get depressed on Valentines Day or some of them pretend they don’t care but are dying on the inside lol. Being single is not a crime and there is a reason why you’re single. Most of you ladies are single by choice. Try to remind yourself that you have other priorities or your reasons why you decided not to be in a relationship. All these things also don’t mean that you can’t celebrate Valentines Day at all.
SINGLE BUT NOT ALONE
Exactly. I’m sure that you are surrounded by love. If you really want to celebrate Valentines Day why not make plans with some of your friends? Single friends of course because you also have to keep in mind that most of your couple friends have plans for that day already. Do something nice and surround yourself with your loved ones. If you’re the last single in your circle of (girl)friends why not try to spend the day with your parents? If you think that’s lame guess what: You want to celebrate the day of love and you are actually the outcome of their love ; )
LOVE YOURSELF
If Justin Biber wrote a song about loving yourself, there has to be a point. Do something for yourself on Valentines Day. I recently bought myself some jewelry because that was something that was on my wish list for a long time. For me it’s not only a another piece of jewelry but something that reminds me that I have reasons for doing what I do know – even if that doesn’t include a partner atm. Reward yourself for the things you’ve achieved. If you’re not the shopping type of girl (oh, come on girl!) treat yourself with a short trip or a day off for instance. We took this photos at the Motel One Wien Staatsoper. I personally can recommend it to anyone who is planning to come to Vienna – even if it’s not for Valentines Day. The design of the hotel is super cute and modern. It is located in the city center so you really can enjoy your ‘me-time’. It is the perfect home for some time alone or even for a couples weekend in Vienna. A very cute and affordable hotel that allows you to take that break you need. If I would have a day off on Valentines Day and if I would not spend it with my friends, parents or even working (lol that’s what I actually will do), I would definitely have some time off. Just read a magazine, have coffee, go on a long walk and enjoy the beauty of the city and go back and have a drink or two at their chic bar. And then I would even book a hotel room for one night, so I can just be away from everything.
PRETTY GIRL ROCK
If all these suggestions are not for you, there’s another thing you can do to celebrate Valentines Day as a single. How about you just treat this day like any other day of this year and do what you gotta do. Just put wear your cutest bling and feel like the prettiest girl on earth with your finest jewelry. Confidence will bring you through this 24 hours of (too much love).
